Tenuta Venissa Bianco 2013 - One of a Kind Wine from the Lagoons of Venice

A magical wine from the unique Dorona di Venezia, a grape that was rescued from near extinction when the current proprietor of Tenuta Venissa discovered 88 such vine plants and decided to replant and revive a long tradition. With a long history of viticulture in Venice before a big flood in 1966 damaging much of the vineyards, the vines have adapted to the salty water conditions in Venice over centuries. The Venisa Bianco is made by the traditional winemaking methods of the lagoons with long skin contact to produce an idiosyncratic wine. To support local artisanal craftmanship, each bottle is hand blown on the island of Murano, and embellished by a hand made gold leaf label traditional to Venice. Only 3,500 bottles are made on average per vintage, and rarer still in magnum format, this is a wine for the wine lover who has tried everything under the sun.

Tenuta Venissa Bianco 2013

HK$4,500 per magnum

The Venissa Bianco is deep golden in colour. It has an attractive oxidative bouquet of nuts, honey, cool yellow fruit on the nose, and a saline medium bodied texture on the palate, with elegant dried fruit commingling with a unique salty flavour, and a long mineral finish. Already fascinating to drink, the acidity and structure should ensure a long life ahead, especially in the magnum format that is ideal for sharing a special experience with the inquisitive oenophile and friends!
