Weingut Peter Lauer's Schonfels GG is their most structured and mineral dry wine, sourced from 100+ year old ungrafted vines. Harvested late without rot issues due to strong winds, it offers fresh aromas of white flowers, bergamot, and minty herbs. With superb concentration, it delivers a persistent finish of crisp citrus fruits and a pronounced saline character.

Tasting notes
Lauer’s 2020 Schonfels GG Fass 11 is deep, intense and pure on the still yeasty nose that exhibits ripe fruit intertwined with herbal/floral and stony aromas. Crystalline and lean on the palate and with enormous length, this is a pure and refined, vegetal-flavored dry Riesling with remarkable finesse and tension. More classic maybe than the richer van Volxem. Tasted in Wiesbaden in August 2021.

4/ Kanonkop Estate Paul Sauer 2018 - Bt | NM96

The Kanonkop Estate Paul Sauer 2018 is a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc from South Africa. Named after the estate's patriarch, this dark and complex wine showcases deep fruit flavors of plum and raspberry layered with spice and earth. Aged for 24 months in new French oak, it develops a structured profile with polished tannins.
Kanonkop Estate Paul Sauer 2018是一款來自南非的波爾多風格混釀酒，由Cabernet Sauvignon、Merlot 和 Cabernet Franc製成。以現任莊主的著名祖父之名命名，這款深色又複雜的紅酒展現了李子和覆盆子的果味，並帶有香料和泥土的味道。在新橡木桶中陳釀24個月，形成了結構豐富且單寧優雅的特點。
Tasting notes
The 2018 Paul Sauer is backward, almost surly on the nose and needs a few minutes to really find its voice, offering blackberry, raspberry coulis, aniseed and light floral scents. The oak is very well integrated here. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, and one of the most sensual I can recall in recent years. Suave and sophisticated, this is Cape wine from the top drawer.
