Pristine Parcel of Mature Cabernet Franc from Bernard Baudry of Chinon

Often overlooked but delivering great value are the mature wines from Chinon. In the hands of the right producers, Cabernet Franc from Chinon are long lived, of low alcohol (typically 12.5%), and develop beautifully into complex yet fresh and authentic wines that should be of real interest to lovers of aged wines.

Bought from a Michelin starred restaurant in Germany that purchased the wines direct from the producer on release, we have a small pristine parcel of Bernard Baudry Chinon Les Grézeaux 1999 and 2000 to offer today. Made by one of the leading producers in Chinon, with grapes from gravelly soil, the wine was fermented in cement vats and aged in a mixture of cement and old oak barrels (though more recent vintages do not see any oak). We tasted both bottles in a recent dinner, and the wines are still youthful in appearance with little bricking. Aromas of cranberry, raspberry, forest floor, and earth on the nose was followed by a vibrant palate with fully resolved tannins and a silky texture. A snip at $350 per bottle and highly recommended for the upcoming festive period.

In stock now, and offered subject to final confirmation and remaining unsold. E. & O. E.
