First up is the esteemed Cédric Bouchard Roses de Jeanne. Bouchard follows a distinctive approach, emphasizing single-vineyard, single-variety (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, or Pinot Blanc), and zero-dosage champagnes. Rather than blending grapes from various sources, he highlights the unique characteristics of each vintage and terroir, with yields among the lowest in Champagne. His method includes a long, cool second fermentation that yields smaller, finer bubbles, enhancing the wine's vinosity and precision. Try the Val Vilaine 2021, a vibrant 100% Pinot Noir champagne brimming with flavors of pear, passion fruit, white flowers, and wet stones. Also featured is La Haute-Lemblee Blanc de Blancs Brut 2015, a limited-release Chardonnay acclaimed by Antonio Galloni as "one of the very best editions"✨ he has ever tasted. Don’t overlook La Boloree Blanc de Blancs 2015, a rare and expressive Pinot Blanc from a small vineyard that Bouchard cherishes, with only 1,000 bottles produced, showcasing exceptional quality and depth.

We also present Pascal Agrapart’s Venus Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut Nature Millesime 2015. Sourced from a tiny, chalky single vineyard, La Fosse in Avize, this cuvée is crafted solely from old Chardonnay vines planted in 1959. The 2015 vintage presents vibrant citrus, green apple, and lemon peel, complemented by toasted hazelnuts. This intense wine thrives with food and benefits from decanting, rewarding patience with further aging.

Next is the impressive Pol Roger Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill Brut 2012, featuring delightful aromas of stone fruit and buttery pastry, with zesty notes of lemon and grapefruit. The elegant mousse makes it a standout. You’ll also find Ulysse Collin Les Pierrieres Blanc De Blancs Extra Brut 2017, a stunning wine that exceeds even the highest expectations. With only 5,400 bottles produced, it showcases citrus and brioche aromas, yellow stone fruit, and a crisp, long finish.

Finally, we have the magnificent Krug Grande Cuvée 164ème Édition Brut NV, which takes the legendary 2008 vintage as its base, hailed as the greatest Champagne vintage in living memory. This blend includes 127 wines from 11 years, with the youngest from 2008 and the oldest from the celebrated 1990 vintage (another legendary vintage in 20th century). Comprising 32% reserve wines from Krug's library, it features 48% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, and 17% Meunier, delivering exceptional complexity and elegance.

The 2021 Blanc de Noirs Val Vilaine is pretty powerful. The Val Vilaine is a fairly open, sensual wine in most years, but the 2021 is quite intense. Low yields from these 45-year-old vines resulted in an especially serious, vibrant Val Vilaine that should age very well. Pear, white flowers, spice and apple tart linger. This is an especially fine edition and a serious wine. Bottled with no dosage. Disgorged: 2023.

Cedric Bouchard Roses de Jeanne La Haute-Lemblee Blanc de Blancs Brut 2015 - Bt | AG98

The 2015 Blanc de Blancs La Haute Lemblé is one of the very best editions I have ever tasted. Beautifully focused, the 2015 dazzles with its richness, power and tension. A mélange of crushed rocks, mint, white pepper, smoke and citrus infuses the 2015 with crystalline intensity. The purity of the Chardonnay fruit is just remarkable. All of the elements build to a heady crescendo of aromas, avors and textures. Racy and explosive, the 2015 Haute Lemblé dazzles from the very rst taste. A few years of cellaring will help the 2015 be at its very best, although it is utterly breathtaking even in the early going. No dosage. Disgorged: April, 2019.

The 2015 Blanc de Blancs La Bolorée, 100% Pinot Blanc from 50+ year-old vines on limestone, is a wine of explosive power and resonance. In most years, the Bolorée needs a few years in bottle to come together. I imagine that will be the case here as well. Even so, the pedigree is evident. A wine of stunning beauty, the 2015 hits all the senses with layers of mineral-infused orchard fruit. Floral overtones develop later, adding layers of dimension. Wonderfully rich and deeply expressive, the 2015 is simply magnicent. The biggest challenge will be finding it, as there are just 1,000 bottles to go around. No dosage. Disgorged: April, 2019

Pascal Agrapart Venus Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut Nature Millesime 2015 - Bt | AG95

The 2015 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Vénus Grand Cru is sublime. Lemon cont, menthol, dried herbs and white pepper all meld together in the glass. More of a wine than Champagne, the Vénus is creamy and openknit, with lovely freshness and plenty of character. No dosage. Disgorged: May, 2021.

Pol Roger Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill Brut 2012 - Bt | RP95

Richer and fleshier than the 2013, the 2012 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill offers up aromas of ripe citrus and orchard fruits mingled with buttered toast, hazelnuts and confit peach. Full-bodied, layered and gourmand, with an enveloping core of fruit, excellent depth at the core and a pretty pinpoint mousse, it remains harmonious and precise despite its broader-shouldered format.

Ulysse Collin Les Pierrieres Blanc De Blancs Extra Brut 2017 - Bt | RP97

There are 5,400 bottles of the NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Pierrières (2017), disgorged in February 2022 after 48 months on the lees—and this is the last time there will be two disgorgements, as from next year onward, Les Pierrières will systematically see 48 months' tirage before disgorgement. Wafting from the glass with scents of confit citrus fruit, lemon zest, spring flowers, almond paste, pastry cream and wet stones, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and precise, with terrific cut and tension, concluding with a long, saline finish. An additional year before disgorgement delivers a less primary, more integrated, seamless Champagne.

Krug Grande Cuvee 164 eme Edition Brut NV - Bt | AG97

A stellar Champagne, Krug's NV Grande Cuvée 164ème Édition, (2008 base vintage) is painfully tight. The 164 is a fabulous wine, but readers should not fall into the temptation of opening a bottle anytime soon. Crushed rocks, slate, mint, sage and white pepper lend striking aromatic brightness. The 164 is just as compelling as it has always been. Even so, it needs time to be at its very best. The 164 is a blend based on 2008, with reserve wines back to 1990. Krug ID: 316031.
