HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair 2024 : Sommeliers’ Picks🥳

HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair 2024 is in full swing, and we’re pleased to be part of it at Booth 3D-C13 from Nov 7-8 for trade and open to the public on Nov 9(10am-6pm), at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year marks the debut of the “Sommeliers’ Picks🧐🏆”, organized by HKTDC, where esteemed sommeliers curate a selection of their favourite wines.

Three distinguished sommeliers are judging this year's picks: Mr. Arnaud Bardary MS, Runner-up Best Sommelier of UK 2015 and Runner-up World Best Young Sommelier 2012; Mr. Carlito Chiu, 2024 Tatler Dining’s Best Sommelier; and Mr. Reeze Choi, the first Chinese to reach the top three as the second runner-up in the ASI Best Sommelier of the World Competition 2023.

With over 600 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions, the competition for the Sommelier’s Picks is fierce. Out of this vast selection, only 4 white wines and 5 red wines have been chosen, and we are proud to announce that 4 of those 9 wines come from our agency producers!!!!🥳👏🏻

The selected WHITE wines are:

🏆 Domaine Laureau Savennieres Les Genets 2019

🏆 Tawse Quarry Road Chardonnay, Vinemount Ridge VQA 2019

The chosen RED wines are:

🏆 Anthony Thevenet Morgon Cuvee Vieilles Vignes 2020

🏆 Domaine de la Noblaie Pierre de Tuf 2018

To celebrate this recognition, we’re offering a 15% off discount on these wines on our website from now until Nov 24. If you haven’t tried them yet, this is your opportunity to discover and share them with friends!☺

We warmly invite you to visit our booth (3D-C13) at the fair to sample these award-winning wines and explore two exciting new producer labels that are fresh off the ferries and not yet listed on our website: Domaine Castagnier from Cote de Nuits, Burgundy, featuring their Chambolle Musigny 2022, known for its bright fruit and mineral acidity; and Gabin et Félix Richoux from Irancy, Burgundy, showcasing the Irancy Veaupessiot 2021, celebrated for its beautifully perfumed notes of rose petals and plums. This is a great chance to taste them firsthand before anyone else!

Look forward to seeing you at our booth!

1/ Domaine Laureau Savennieres Les Genets 2019 - Bt | VNS93
(15% Off) HK$380 ▷ HK$323

The 2019 Les Gênets is a powerful, reductive style of Savennières that has a sense of roundness but remains firm, focused with real drive. Damien Laureau lost 40% of his crop due to spring frosts leading to a concentrated and firm style. Expect mandarin flavors alongside red grapefruit. It's a powerful, intense wine from vines planted on sand over schist.

2/ Tawse Quarry Road Chardonnay, Vinemount Ridge VQA 2019 - Bt | Jamie Goode 94
(15% Off) HK$305 ▷ HK$260

This is the biggest Chardonnay block. Windy site. This is fresh and lively with bright pear and citrus fruit, with good acidity and a fine spiciness. It’s very bright and focused: there’s some mid-palate richness but also good acidity. There’s a bit of structure, too. The oak is really well integrated.

3/ Anthony Thevenet Morgon Cuvee Vieilles Vignes 2020 - Bt
(15% Off) HK$285 ▷ HK$242

This medium-bodied wine elegantly combines plummy, fruity, and spicy flavors. The layered nose offers cherry, raspberry and leather, reflected on the complex palate of ripe red fruit, black cherry, pepper, and subtle spice. A well-crafted, serious expression of the varietal.

4/ Domaine de la Noblaie Pierre de Tuf 2018 - Bt | RP93
(15% Off) HK$250 ▷ HK$213

The 2018 Chinon Pierre de Tuf comes from two plots planted on "cornuelles" (flint clay) in 1947 and 1953. Macerated for several weeks in an ancient vat carved into limestone in the 15th century, aged in 500-liter oak barrels for 14 months and for another four months in tank, this is an enormously concentrated yet finessed and elegant, even charming Cabernet Franc with beautiful freshness without being all too vibrant. The nose shows perfectly ripe and elegant, spicy and limestone-driven fruit, and on the palate, this is a highly elegant pairing of finesse and silk with ripeness and concentration. A fabulous Chinon that is not built on power but on intensity and finesse! Tasted in June 2021.

Score: 93
